Guest guest
A Brief Summary Satsang with Professor and Mrs. Anilkumar Kamaraju – St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, USA, March 22nd 2009 OM SRI SAI RAM March 22nd 2009 was a memorable day for everyone assembled at St. Thomas, as we had a distinct pleasure of being with Prof. Anil Kumar and his wife Smt. Vijaylakshmi Kamaraju. Amazing, Marvelous, full of love...words run short trying to describe Prof. Anil Kumar, listening to him was like having a glimpse of Baba Himself. The evening began with some soul stirring bhajans, followed by a wonderful and enlightening talk by Smt. Vijaylakshmi. With his always jovial and loving manner Prof Anil Kumar started his talk, he explained the difference between experience and expression and that he felt that his visit to St Thomas is an experience beyond expression, He defined the beauty of St. Thomas like no one else before, He said we should have an eye to see the Kailash here, full of mountain ranges ,and see Lord Nataraj doing the Tandava (Cosmic dance) here, and we should realize that when the creation is so beautiful ,the creator must be equally or more beautiful. Nature is the reflection of God himself. He said the vast ocean teaches us the lesson of infinity, the ocean is limitless and boundless like God. Ocean also teaches us another lesson - towards the shore it is full of waves, turbulence and foam. but in deep it is calm and quiet. Similarly the self in man, the divinity in man is calm and quiet, is balanced, un-agitated, silent, serene, dignified whereas at superficial level there are disturbances and turbulences,. The third lesson we can learn from the ocean is that all which is infinite is blue in color , the mighty ocean, the sky, Lord Ram, Lord Shiva ,Lord Krishna. Yes! Creation is the reflection of God. By the touch of the Sun saline water transforms into pure water, similarly when God touches our life, we oceans full of salt of ego, pride and jealousy transform into being sweet and acceptable. He also said that Man is made out of God and made by God but doesn't act Godly Our Swami has come to bring us back to our state of reality. In continuity to learning from nature ,he said that like these mountain ranges our lives are full of ups and downs too, we shouldn't complain about the downs because we see the ups too, even our body has ups and downs, we would look so horrible if we didn't have the ups and downs and looked like a concrete pillar. We should enjoy the night as much as the day as night contributes equally, each one compensates the other. We wouldn't enjoy success if there was no failure. Our true desire should be READINESS TO ACCEPT WHATEVER COMES TO US and we should remember success is a chance to thank and failure is a chance to accept. Another very significant thing he said was that we forget to enjoy that what is freely given to us, like the water, power, oxygen. We breathe in tankers and tankers of oxygen without thanking God, The trees, flowers, animals all enjoy life but man is not able to enjoy life because he is worried now thinking about how happy he will after 10 years. We have to remember that: LIFE IS HERE AND NOW. We should be ever thankful and grateful to God and enjoy nature and BE NATURAL. All animals have animal qualities, all plants have plants qualities but Man has developed animal qualities that is the reason Swami introduced the Education in Human Values. We are ready to land on the moon but not ready to step into our neighbor’s house. We have to develop the human qualities of compassion, sacrifice and love. He also talked how trees are perfect examples of self sacrifice not just when they are alive but even when they are cut down. He also said that GOD IS THE ONE WHO MOTIVATES WITHIN. Swami prompts from inside and He is the driver with all the controls .The real understanding of religion is that everything is a gift from God. He explained the Divine Accountancy with wonderful examples stating how we can have Karmic exemption by various activities like bhajan, meditation, service activities, Nagarsakirtan. and how a small boat of bhajan and Smaran (chanting the name of God) can take us across this mundane sea of life. With a beautiful incident from the life of Shirdi Sai Baba ,he explained that the reason Shirdi Sai Baba used to sit on the stone is so He could get up instantly from the hard surface and respond immediately to a devotee's call. Referring to his own past Prof. Anil Kumar depicted an incident where he had to sit amongst his students to hide from the Income Tax Officers and Swami later told him in the darshan that you could have been caught red handed by those people, but Swami always give one chance to transform ourselves and correct ourselves. He won't come to you until you cry and when He comes to you He won't bear to see you cry. He concluded his talk after a note on meditation, he said when we are totally absorbed in something it is meditation, when we lose the I-ness, forget the ego and dedicate each and every act as an offering to God, it is a three step process starting with concentration leading to contemplation and ending with meditation. This was followed by a very informative Question and answer session. We will never forget his amazing quality of singing and swaying with ecstasy in between his discourses, he transported all the audience to a higher level. We will be ever grateful to him for pouring the boundless amount of love on us and thank Swami for sending His chosen instrument to the land of Kailash (St. Thomas).
