Central Railways will run Festival Special Trains to Shirdi.Mumbai | Sunday, Aug 16 2009 IST Central Railway (CR) will run 218 Festival special trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Karwar / Nagpur / Sainagar Shirdi and Dadar-Varanasi to clear the extra rush of passengers during the ensuing festival season. Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi-Mumbai Weekly Special will run from August 21, 2009 to Octomber 31,2009Departure: CST,Mumbai - Special train 0117 will leave CST at 22:20 pm on every Friday from 21 August`09 to 30 October`09 Arrival at Sainagar,Shirdi - At 05:00 hrs next day. Departure: Shirdi - Special train 0118 will leave Sainagar at 07:30 on every Saturday from 22 August`09 to 31 October`09 Arrival at CST,Mumbai - At 14:25 hours same day.Other Festival Special Trains - On Mumbai-Karwar routes 46 tri-weekly special trains will run between September seven and October 29. The 0121 special train

will leave CST on every Monday, Wednesday, Saturday from September 7 to October 28 at 2215 hrs and arrive Karwar at 1330 hrs next day. 0122 special train will leave Karwar on every Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday from September 8,2009 to October 29,2009 at 1530 hours and arrive CST at 0615 hours next day. Mumbai-Nagpur-Mumbai superfast tri-weekly will run from September 24 and October 30, 2009. 0129 special train will leave CST on every Sunday, Tuesday, Thusday from September 24 to October 29 at 2215 hours and will arrive Nagpur at 0745 hours next day. 0130 special train would leave Nagpur on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday from Sept 25,2009 to October 30,2009 at 2025 hours and will arrive CST at 0755 hours next day.Varanasi-Dadar superfast special trains will run between Septmber 11,2009 and October 31,2009. 0125 special train will leave Dadar

He said during the period from April 2008 to June 2009, the originating earnings of Central Railway have improved to Rs 1614 crore as compared to Rs 1504 crore achieved during the corresponding period of the last fiscal showing an improvement of 7 per cent. All the departments of CR have immensely contributed towards achieving

an excellent all-round performance during 2008-09. CR could achieve originating loading of 54.06 MT despite the global recession and reduction of demand from trade. Wagon turn round improved from 1.97 days in 2007-08 to 1.88 days in 2008-09. He said the Coaching Operation of Central Railway created a new record in Indian Railways by running 1963 special trains during 2008-09 as compared to 773 special trains during 2007-08.From April to June 2009, Central Railway achieved 97.9 per cent punctuality of Mail/Express trains as compared to 96.5 per cent achieved during the corresponding period of previous year.Commercial Department also achieved record ticket checking earnings of Rs 14.51 crore during April to June 2009 as against Rs 12.24 crore achieved during the corresponding period of last year registering an increase of 19 per cent.With a view to provide cleaner linen to passengers, an in-house laundry is being set up at Wadi

Bunder as a pilot project.The major works completed were Puntamba-Shirdi New Broad Gauge line and Turbhe-Nerul double line corridor during 2009. Gauge conversion work of Osmanabad-Kurduwadi section was completed on October 19, 2008. The other important construction projects in progress include Kurla-Thane fifth and sixth line, Miraj-Pandharpur gauge conversion, and CSTM to Kalyan 'Train Describer System'.During 2008-09, Central Railway achieved a new record by selling scrap worth Rs 250.12 crore, which is 16.4 per cent higher as compared to the sale of scrap during 2007-08.Referring to the on board house-keeping services introduced in five trains, he said since this service was widely appreciated, Central Railway will expand this service in 40 other trains soon.
