This menu will also let you change your subscription between digest and normal mode. Thanks, The List Owner Revered Friends/Devotees of Sri Ramakrishna. We have taken the liberty of putting your name on to a mail-list we have just started. The list will be moderated. The aims are to portray the best of spiritual teachings from the lives of Sri Ramakrishna and other spiritual giants of our times. We will develop certain themes for discussions. We welcome any suggestions and contributions on suitable spiritual topics which can benefit all the participants . Suggestions and contributions to the list to be sent to: - ramakrishna We humbly pray that this list will help awaken spirituality in all sincere seekers. Om namah Sri Ramakrishnaye. First topic: 'Sri Ramkrishna on Kalpataru day' Today is 1st of January. Devotees of Sri Ramakrishna call this the Kalpataru day - the day the wishes of devotees were granted by the God-man of our age. This is also the day when for the first time one gets a real idea of what this 'Ramakrishna' is. For almost all his life he had kept himself hidden. On this special day he discarded his outer covering. The covering which portrayed him as a humble priest - a humble devotee of the mother goddess. For the first time He showed his true majesty. In my humble opinion, all Gods and Goddesses of the Hindus pale in significance compared to the majesty of this being. What good are all these Gods and Goddess to me? They appear so far off ! Here is a God-man of today - he talks in the language we understand - he guides us towards spirituality using contemporary methods. For the first time we have at hand a God-man whose actual words have been recorded - whose actual photographs can be seen. What more can we ask for? jay lakhani vivekananda

At the moment, I find nothing more to say, other than to offer a warm greeting. For awhile, I'll read the words of others and " jump in " to existing threads where appropriate. I've been known to write spiritual essays and poetry, which I may post to the list if appropriate to the list charter and subject matter. Any who are interested are invited to visit my website at: http://www.eskimo.com/~fewtch/ND/one.html This site is oriented toward the Western " beginner, " in order to serve as a pointing toward the nondual perspective, although it contains much that may be of interest to those who are " further along " on their respective paths as well. The site is not focused specifically on Ramakrishna or Vivekananda, nor even on Advaita Vedanta, but generally on the topic of Nonduality, the Truth that All is One in Brahman, that Atman (Self) is Brahman (Ultimate Reality; All That Is). This is not to denigrate the various sites with a more specific focus; such sites also have a great purpose, but mine is geared mainly for those who may have never heard of nonduality before, as a gentle introduction. With Love, Tim ----- The CORE of Reality awaits you at: http://www.eskimo.com/~fewtch/ND/index.html - Poetry, Writings, Live Chat on spiritual topics. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, My name is Tim Gerchmez. Some of you might know me from when I was d here about 6 months ago. I left at that time over a dispute with a list member (if I remember correctly), but lately I've been learning to go beyond petty disagreements and realize that they are only modifications of the mind, dualities that the mind has created. I'm also learning not to get caught in the " interminable net of vain argumentation. " For those who don't remember me, I'm a devotee of Sri Ramakrishna, and (especially) Swami Vivekananda, although the writings of Adi Shankara have also been of great impact here. Although I revere Ramakrishna and Vivekananda as having brought the most openness and accessibility to Advaita Vedanta, I don't limit myself to Bhakta, or even to Advaita Vedanta itself, but the general perspective of Advaita (Nonduality) in any form it takes (including no form at all :-). My favorite saying is " Truth is one; sages call it by various names. " Vivekananda has said that the Atman has no country, no place, no time, and is always available to everyone. This openness is what makes Advaita Vedanta so near to my heart, although I don't discount the words of any other religion or philosophy -- even the dualistic religions serve a purpose in helping bring attention to the soul. Everything is moving toward the truth, toward perfection. I feel toward Vivekananda as I would toward a brother, or a very close friend. It was his words that brought real understanding here for the first time, and in a way I consider him my Guru " in absentia. " His words are as fresh as they were in the early 1900's, and I think they will still be so another 2,000 years from now. Hari OM, Good to be back, Tim ----- " Truth is One; Sages call it by various names. " Visit " The Core " Website at http://coresite.cjb.net - Music, Poetry, Writings on Nondual Spiritual Topics.
