Guest guest
Here is a quote by Swami Vivekananda that truly " blew me away " - " What is it that attracts man to man, man to woman, woman to man, and animals to animals, drawing the whole universe, as it were, toward one center? It is what is called love. Its manifestation is from the lowest atom to the highest being: omnipotent, all-pervading, is this love. What manifests itself as attraction in the sentient and the insentient, in the particular and the universal, is the love of God. It is the one motive power that is in the universe. Under the impetus of that love, Christ gives his life for humanity, Buddha even for an animal, the mother for the child, the husband for the wife. It is under the impetus of the same love that men are ready to give up their lives for their country. " (2:50-51) What insight is this? That last sentence... that Vivekananda sees the workings of love even in a situation related to war, that love is the motive force behind ALL things... The last sentence took several minutes to " sink in " before I saw what he was saying, and I almost literally began to tremble. This man is a Saint. I am deeply humbled and grateful for his writings, for they open my eyes more widely than I ever thought possible. I was moved to tears many times while reading the works of Swami Vivekananda. I admire not only his mind but his heart too. 'Cause this man saw the truth and lived it too, to the best for humanity. Om Shanti.

He gave diksha of Shakti mantra to him so that he could carry on his duties as a priest of Shakti better. I do not know who Kenaram's Guru was. Guest guest
Dear Anurag, The guru of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was Sri Tota Puri, of the Puri Sankarite order, who was mahant of a monastery in North India. Tota's guru's name is not known, but this is the lineage. Sri Ramakrishna also had Tantric initiation from a nun known as the Bharavi Brahmani. ------ Swami Yogeshananda The Eternal Quest 302 Sycamore Drive Decatur, GA 30030 (404)373-0107 yogeshananda http://www.mindspring.com/~yogeshananda/index.html -----

Guest guest
Does it mean that Shree Totapuri had a Guru but his name is not known. > On Tue, 16 Mar 1999, Swami Yogeshananda wrote: > > > Swami Yogeshananda <yogeshananda > > > > Dear Anurag, > > The guru of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was Sri Tota Puri, of the Puri > > Sankarite order, who was mahant of a monastery in North India. Yes, surely; in every monastic order the monks have a guru. In Sankarite orders they claim the succession of gurus back to Sankaracharya himself.
