Guest guest
It is difficult to blow away the problems in life unless one has transformed his life into a divine life. Most of us have not done that. Every day is a struggle, both at home and outside. Relationships are falsified now and then, and despite realising their falsity, we continue mending them, pampering them. What is the way out? Harassed by the joys and sorrows of life, we can pursue a life of renunciation. But, that is not the way Sri Thakur has shown us. He has shown how a Grihasta can effectively reach the same destination as a recluse. So, how do we face these problems every day? How can we transform people around us so that they begin to shed the selfishness in their minds? What should be our attitude barring pure indifference and disinterestedness towards those we interact with? ------------------------------- Get your free email from AltaVista at http://altavista.iname.com
Guest guest
Dear Everybody, In 1993, during my first visit to the Sri Ramakrishna Math, Pune, the President Swami of the Math told me the following story which still makes its impact felt in my mind and heart. 'Once a person was walking along the sea shore. In the golden sand of the beach, he saw a shining 'piece of silver'. Tempted, he rushed to pick up his valuable find. But alas, on nearing the 'piece of silver' he found that it was in fact a useless shell. Next day again the same thing happened. He was tempted by the shiny empty shells, but on going near he became aware that the shells were not the silver. >From then on the fellow became wise. He renounced the idea of silver for good. He renounced mentally, and was never tempted to run after the glitter, knowing fully well that it is a useless shell and nothing else.' This mental renunciation should also be our watchword. Knowing fully well that the glittering sense pleasures are not valuable, we should try to renounce them mentally, and continue to walk onward on the path of spiritual discipline as shown by our Teacher or Sri Ramakrishna, or Swami Vivekananda, etc. Dr c s shah sanjaych wrote: > > sanjaych > > It is difficult to blow away the problems in life unless one has transformed his life into a divine life. Maya is a very powerful force and we need to practice vigilance in recognizing its allure. I think it is also fun to celebrate the dance of Shakti, the maya that she continually creates JUST FOR FUN! All of this is God's lela...so we might as well embrace it for what it is. A Game! Hari Om Shanti! Jody
