Guest guest
Continuing on the theme of Astavakra In Verse 16 Astavakra continues: You pervade this universe and this universe exists in you. You are really Pure Consciousness by nature. Do not be small minded. Commentary: This text of Advaita is non compromising. We have been told that our body, our practices like meditation all have nothing to do with our true nature this is indeed a very bold statement. Look at the last line - 'do not be small minded' (assert yourself!!). The whole Astavakra Samhita preaches such extremely bold ideas. We can see that perhaps this text is more suited to those who are on the brink of self-knowledge or for those who need to be prodded so that they can realise their own past glory. When we observe this we can perhaps understand why Sri Ramakrishna insisted that Swami Vivekananda study these texts. What effect such language would have on a personality like Swami Vivekananda is something we can only marvel at! jay
Guest guest
Dear Jay, I do so appreciate your postings on the Astavakara Gita. They are a wonderful way for me to start my day. I am awestruck by the power of these wonderful scriptures and its ability to cut through maya at its deepest level. It leaves one speechless. For there is nothing more to say. Thank you again.
