Guest guest
Hello Everyone! Swami Yogeshananda Om Hari Om! I am so delighted to be a part of this group. Re: Monastic Life When Jody mentioned, in a previous posting, that her home is like an Ashram; and people who visit, feel the peace contained therein; it made me realise even more the inherent truth of that statement. Even if one lives in a tiny room, this can be an 'abode of peace and harmony'. Any ascetic-minded person may adopt monastic vows of obedience [to the Word], poverty and chastity, in his/her own environment. As a matter of fact, gentle souls such as these, who live in the world, remaining philosophically detached from it, are a great asset to the Ramakrishna Mission. They are the 'ears' and 'eyes' of those who are shut away from the world. We must always remember the words of Sri Swami Vivekananda: " Sannyasin, walk alone, be alone " When one has overcome the 'fear' of being alone, and the social stigmas attached, there slowly develops within, a love for silence and solitude. The love for fellow humans is not diminished, but rather heightened. When a person, such as this, enters the world [for employment or shopping purposes etc], he/she really enjoys the contact with others. However, 'attachment' to this enjoyment must be avoided. The true home is the 'Ashram'...and one always wants to go back into it, as soon as possible. Blessings and Love, Tom ____ 123India - India's Premier Search Engine Get your Free Email Account at http://www.123india.com
