Guest guest Posted June 21, 1999 Report Share Posted June 21, 1999 Hi everyone, When I speak of the monastic lifestlye, I am not referring to ashram living as it is known in the United States. Heaven forbid! I have been around many ashrams in this country, and that environment is extremely dysfunctional. I was addressing the issue of acceptance into the Ramakrishna Order as a monk, after the age of 30 or acceptance into any Order as a monk, priest or nun. Ordinary ashram living as I have seen it in this country is appalling. I will not go into any further detail, but I could share stories with you that would curl your hair.
