HELLO AGAIN, KIND SOULS!

Jody:

" .......I have been around many ashrams and various Christian religions, and

the rule is the same throughout...over 30 is too old. I'm

surprised to hear

otherwise. As I said, please provide specifics. "

Tom: The Cistercian Order [trappists] .........remember: Thomas Merton?

...... they accept any age....however, the vow of silence is

mandatory.

the monks do not converse with each other, other than selective

readings from the scriptures at mealtimes, given by an

individual member on

a rotating basis. Only the Abbot and his managing assistant

are

allowed conversations with the inmates. They sleep in

communal

dormitories, in tiny semi-enclosed cubicles. The food

is subsistance

level, bland and and tasteless...and the work is

hard.

Kuntimaddi Sadananda

" ....One has to change oneself not the environment, I mean

obviously one's mind.

When one changes oneself,

the environment changes itself to suite the needs of the seeker.

I should prepare my mind first before I find a monastery. But if I have

prepared my mind properly then I do not need a monastery – I create one where I

am.

{Ha! Ha! ...here we may see how Kunitmaddi tries to draw out the Jesuits

in our midst:

" ....There

is a

famous book “ St. Thomas of Assisi” by a great Greek author ( I

forgot

the

author’s name but he was a literary giant– It is a wonderful book

to read

)– "

ps: Jesuits do not 'deliver themsleves' that easily......we will have to find

more subtle methods.

Swami Yogeshananda:

It is difficult to be " out-of-line " , even in an open-style monastery of the

Ramakrishna

Order--believe me, I know!

Tom:

" One accomadates himself to surroundings and

social opinion and gets all good things from society, the giver of all good to

such. The other

stands alone and draws society up towards him. The accommodating man finds a

path of roses;

the non-accommodating, one of thorns. But the worshippers of " Vox Populi " go to

annihilation in a

moment; the children of light 'live for ever'. " ....Sri Swami Vivekanada.

An Interesting Quote

What do you think about this quote?

Jody

To the disciples' embarrassment the Master once told a bishop that

religious people have a natural bent for cruelty.

" Why? " demanded the disciples after the bishop had gone.

" Because they all too easily sacrifice persons for the advancement

of a

purpose, "

Tom:

Jody, someone once asked me, if a true Sadhu, possesses 'human' feelings. I was

forced to answer a 'simple' NO. He/she has gone beyond the realm of human

desires, worldy aspirations, attachments to kin, etc.

Mahendranath Gupta, the wonderful author of the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna [to

whom we are eternally indebted], was sharply criticised, during his lifetime,

for neglect of 'his'

children. Even when he was passing from this mortal frame, he left instructions

to the Bramhacharis who were in attendance, to advise 'his' family only AFTER

he has left the body.

That is a very tall order!

From Tim Gerchmez:

Women tend to

use

*both* sides of the brain equally.

Women's brains tend to be smaller (because the size of the skull tends

to

be smaller)

but they also tend to contain more neurons (packed closely

together)

Tom:

I sometimes wonder how much of this is biological and how much is conditioning.

In modern western society, a 'new' woman is evolving....and has been

steadily developing her infinite potential, since her 'forced' entrance into the

world of industry, during the first world war [1914-18]

From that time onward, there is no going back! Woman experienced the thrill of

working 'outside' the home, and receiving a pay envelope...liberating them [a

little] from the economic

dependance, hitherto imposed upon them.

There are now laws, protecting the 'equal' rights of woman. She may now freely

express the divinity within, and become the godess that she really is.

The human body [both male and female] is slowly adapting to these

changes....[that is my humble opinion]
