Guest guest
Dear Jay, I received the following message from the Advaita Ashrama Calcutta. I am putting it on " onelist " . May I request you put it on other lists also. Subject: Date: Wed, 23 Jun 1999 16:47:44 +0530 " Advaita Ashrama, Calcutta " <advaita To: " Dr. C.S. Shah " <drcsshah Dear Dr. C.S.Shah, The General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math & Mission has sent the following message to be put on the internet. Please do the needful. With love and best wishes, Swami Bodhasarananda WEST KEEN ON INDIAN SCIENTIST'S NEW THEORY New Delhi, June 11 (PTI): A revolutionary theory of an Indian scientist on the nature of space and origin of matter has aroused a lot of interest in the Western world. The theory developed by Mr. Paramhamsa Tiwari, project engineer of the Narora Atomic Power Project, appears to have been confirmed by the reported development of a machine by an American scientist which extracts electrical energy directly from space. N-generator, as it is called, has been built by Bruce E Depalma of the Simularity Institute in California. It uses four ring magnets, a conducting disc, and rotating brass shaft and is based on Mr. Tiwari's new theory which says that space is not empty, as commonly believed but is filled with 'an incompressible, frictionless and highly mobile medium' of superfluid particles whose motion is itself the basic form of energy. Mr. Tiwari developed his theory three years ago in his book (The Substantial Space) which he further developed in his second book (Space Vortices of energy and matter). In essence Mr. Tiwari's theory says that the emptiness one sees in space is not only the source of energy but is also the source of all material objects. His concept has won several followers in Canada, UK and USA including science bodies like 'Energy Unlimited', in Los Angeles, and 'New Science Advocates' in USA. Guest guest
So... Science and Religion have at last collided, as was inevitable. What will be the reverbations, do you think? Only " futuristic " power sources? Or do you think the West will reconsider its fundamentally flawed view of the objectivity of reality? Guest guest
Dear Dr. Shah, Tthe message (from the Advaita Ashrama on June 11) on space as " an incompressible, frictionless and higly mobile medium " etc. signed by Amrita Bazar Patrika is dated Tuesday, 12th June 1979: was this a typo? Was 1999 intended? Thanks for your answer. edtipple
Guest guest
Dear Tim, Science also is an expression of consciousness; albeit limited by reason and rationality -- 'objectivity' as you say. Swami Vivekananda speaks highly of science in his lectures on Raja-Yoga (Please see Vol. I of his Complete Works.) Science itself creates conditions in certain persons to go beyond the reason. Reason transcends into intuition. Therefore, all scientific progress and growth of human intellect is welcome. The scientific rationality of Vedanta has encouraged us to study the Upanishads as spiritual science. It is, I agree, paradoxical that no science can ever define Reality which is Transcendental, but the road to this state of Absolute Consciousness is through science itself! dr c s shah Tim Gerchmez wrote: > > Tim Gerchmez <fewtch > > So...
