Guest guest
Hello everyone! Swami Yogeshananda Hari Om! Tim Said: " Do you think that Swami Vivekananda, just reading the words of Sri Ramakrishna, would ever have been satisfied? " Tom replies with: " Of course, he wouldn't be satisfied...and neither would you or I. You see, Tim, we have MUCH more than the 'words' of Sri Ramakrishna, at our disposal. We have the lucid descriptions of the time, place and personages, as provided by Mahendranath Gupta. As I mentioned in a previous posting, MahaShakti allowed me the privilege, to spend over a year in solitude, with the Gospel of Ramakrishna and selected writings of Swami Vivekananda, as my only company. Once I got the 'feel' of these books, it was very easy to 'dive deep' into the time, place and circumstances [excellent photos are also provided]....I truly believe that we are very fortunate to have this masterpiece at our disposal. Bye the way, when I mentioned, in a previous message, our debt to Swami Nikhilananda and Margaret Woodrow Wilson, I forgot to mention another: " Joseph Campbell " [he was also part of the team that produced this monumental work]. Tim, you mention that you consider yourself a 'jnani'...here is an interesting quote from Thakur, concerning self-knowledge: " ONLY two kinds of people can attain self-knowledge : those who are not encumbered at all with learning, that is to say, whose minds are not over-crowded with thoughts borrowed from others; and those who, after studying all the scriptures and sciences, have come to realise that they know nothing " .
