Guest guest
Hi Edith - further to your message about possible use of Swami Abhedananda's teachings on Reincarnation - let me share with you and with our list something interesting that has happened. I had obtained the reference on reincarnation from Steve - that was later sent to the list. Then I thanked Steve for his help and see what response I got!! Don't you think our Vivekananda is very much around?? How many lives has he touched we wonder?? jay ======================= My message to Steve:- Thank you very much for a speedy response. I have sent the details that you gave me to the mailing list. Please keep in touch - we may impose on you again at later time; for more information. I am working on ideas connecting science to spirituality. May I ask you what field of work do you specialise in? Our main site is at http://www.btinternet.com/~vivekananda you may like to see the science page and also the humour pages there. Warm regards and thanks again jay Vivekananda Centre London >> --- Reply from steve:- Hi Jay, I recall that Swami Vivekananda said that science will also lead to the same goal eventually as religion, is that correct? I think it is all in the sincerity of the seeker. I am not in the sciences, I do video production. I have, however, studied psychology and was very interested for a time in the interface between psychotherapy and mysticism. I think when humility, love of God and respect for the spiritual masters directs one's science, it can become really fruitful. I vaguely recall a story about George Washington Carver, the American black scientist, who, according to the story, prayed to God, " I am not able to understand all your Creation, so, just let me understand the peanut, this will be enough for me. " And, as a result he made quite a few significant discoveries and found a number of previously unknown commercial uses for peanuts. I once had what I believe was an inner contact with Swami Vivekananda. I was going through an extremely difficult time, when I was continually so weak I could hardly work and get through the day. Once, taking a break, I felt his presence and the thought, " Keep on, brother! " (not in words, just the essence of it). If there's anything else I can help with let me know. Dr. Stevenson's work is really *the* scientific work on reincarnation in the West.
