Thankyou for your offer of help. What we need is a summary of the main

commandments or rules of Hinduism. This will part of an exhibition which

would have the commandments of the Worlds great religions presented

together. I was not able to do this myself.......

Isn't " Hinduism " too broad a term to use?

Dear friends,

" Rules of Hinduism "

There are no led down rules; but the following should be led down!

1) Matrudevobhava : Consider your mother as God

2) Pitrudevobhava : Consider your father as God

3) Acharyadevobhava : Consider your teacher as God

4) Atithidevobhava : Consider your guest as God

*

5) God is both immanent as well as transcendental.

*

6) Therefore the Image Worship; it is not the image that is worshiped,

but God present therein.

It is like " by seeing photo of one's mother one remembers her,

similarly by seeing the photo-frame, clay or metal idol, or picture,

etc. of God we remember His presence " .

*

7) Emphasis is not to possess more, but " On how minimum one is able to

survive to carry out his/her sadhana - spiritual practices " !

This is not miserliness, but to achieve desirelessness as has been

advocated in various scriptures, for example:

Verse 67 : Ch. 18, Astavakra

Glorious is he who is free from all desires, who is the perfect

embodiment of bliss which is his own nature, and who is spontaneously

absorbed in the unconditioned Self.

*

Many more commonly accepted principles can be cited to create a " MINIMUM

ACCEPTABLE PROGRAMME " amongst various sects.

BUT this has never happened, is not seen today, and will never happen in

India and Hinduism!!!

And this is no meanness; it is the greatness of Hinduism that it creates

conditions and offers Religion to EVERYONE:

" TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS ABILITY, TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS NEED! "
