Dear Onelist,

I would like to share a few verses from VAIRAGYA-SATAKAM or " 100

Verses on Renunciation " of Bhartrihari. It is about renunciation, on

the reasons for renouncing, rather than on the experience of the

realized soul as is the ASTAVAKRA, but I find some of it very

inspiring. Please, anyone who is interested in them, please let me

know.

Verse #7

Worldly pleasures have not been enjoyed by us, but we ourselves have

been devoured. No religious austerities have been gone through, but we

ourselves have become scorched. Time is not gone (being ever-present

and infinite); it is we who are gone (because of approaching death).

Desire is not reduced in force, though we ourselves are reduced to

senility.

I hope this does inspire, rather than depress.

Edith
