Guest guest
Dear Friends, While scaling the higher peak - Mount Everest in Himalayas! - many lower peaks are to be conquered first. There are almost unending series of higher and higher peaks confronting a sadhaka - spiritual aspirant - on this path to the Top. [anger, jealousy, lust, infatuation, greed...] What are the reasons that a sadhaka would persist in his arduous onward journey? (when he or she easily can turn back or stay comfortably at the height he has already achieved.) The reasons are two: 1. He has heard about the higher beatitude or bliss at the Top. 2. He has been told that it is well within his reach too! Who tells and why should he believe? The Teacher tells and the sadhaka has faith in his words. Then the arduousness of 'walking over the razor's edge' does not bother the aspirant. But suppose he can't succeed, his attempts fail at a lower level, then what? Sri Krishna in the Gita (ch. VI, verses 37 to 45) answers, " O Arjuna, the sadhaka who cannot reach ME in this life, I put him in the subsequent births at the glory of his efforts already attained by him. " I would go further and say the Lord adds one or two peaks as a bonus to the efforts of such sadhaka out of His Grace! dr c s shah -- ==================================== E-magazine on science and spirituality.
