Guest guest
The Sermon on the Mount - 2 The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) - Part 2 [ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Humility is the first sign of a true disciple. Humility does not mean unquestioning. The questioning must be to learn from the teacher and not to " test " the teacher. The Bhagavat Gita says, " Those illumined souls who have realised the Truth will instruct you in the knowledge of Brahman if you will prostrate yourself before them, question them and serve them as a disciple. " [ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. This grief comes due to the realisation that one has not yet realised God. This grief is a rare gift of God. As Sri Ramakrishna used to say, " People shed rivers of tears for a child or wealth. But who sheds one drop of tear for God ? " Jesus also says that those who shed tears for God are blessed. Sri Ramakrishna used to say that if the name of God brings tears into a person's eyes, he is not far from God-realisation. -- ---------- Email: gomu Phone: +91 80 6634617 Webpages: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/1863 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/2973 ----------
