Guest guest
The Sermon on the Mount - 3 The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) - Part 3 [ Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. This meekness means complete surrender to God. This means the absence of ego. When he realises that everything belongs to God, he stops longing for material things. When a person has surrendered himself completely to God, he feels the whole world is his. By renouncing his ego, he identifies himself with the whole of creation. [ Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they [ shall be filled. Righteousness is explained as salvation or union with God in the Old Testament. All other forms of " worldly " righteousness like moral virtues are relative. God-realisation is the only absolutely righteous act. It can be attained by only those who are desperately in search of it. Sri Ramakrishna used to say that, those who long for God with the combined zeal of that of a miser to his wealth, a chaste wife to her husband and a mother to her new-born child, will attain Him. -- ---------- Email: gomu Phone: +91 80 6634617 Webpages: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/1863 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/2973 ----------
