Guest guest
Dear Kathi, and other interested list members, You distinguished hunger and thirst from lust by saying that hunger and thirst were NEEDS, but lust was a WANT. The point I have been trying to make is that all needs (or wants) have both gross and subtle manifestations. Spiritual hunger and thirst is mentioned in the Bible in many places but perhaps most well-known in Jesus' statement " Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. " (Matthew Ch. 5, Verse 6) This is a clear distinction from physical hunger and thirst. Perhaps poetic in language -- but about a subtle reality for which we have no more explicit words. So what do the words " need " and " want " mean? Edith
