Verse #44:

Seeing night follow day, in vain do creatures run on perseveringly,

busy with the various activities set in action by their individual

resolves. Alas, through infatuation we feel no shame at being

befooled by samsara (life) with occupations in which the same

particulars repeat themselves!

Swami Madhavananda comments:

The idea is: How profoundly deluded by desire we live. Never growing

old itself (desire), it makes all things look fresh and new;

otherwise, no worldly pursuit would have any real novelty. They are as

stale as the uniform appearance of day and night following each other.
