Guest guest
namaste, The Svetasvatara Upanishad quote which was posted reminded me of Rg Veda 10: 90; 1. The similarity is stunning but, of course, not surprising. Hymn to Purusha 1) Purusha was thousand-headed, thousand-eyed, thousand-footed. Having covered the earth on all sides, He extended by more than the breadth of ten fingers. (i.e. immeasurable) (or alternatively, He extended beyond by the breadth of ten fingers. (i.e. is greater than the earth) 2) Purusha is all of this, that which has been and that which shall be. He is the Lord of Immortality, And the Lord of that which grows by food. (Lord of all beings) (trans. M. Wright) Regards Miles >>[ramakrishna] Digest Number 198 Westend Ashram at Colorado Springs <urbanashram Vedic Verse (From a mailing list we are on) Today's Vedic Verse: Day 245 God is, in truth, the whole universe: what was, what is and what beyond shall ever be. He is the God of life immortal and of all life that lives by food. His hands and feet are everywhere. He has heads and mouths everywhere. He sees all, He hears all. He is in all, and He Is.
