The elusive dollar

Two farmers used to stay as neighbors. One was very busy. From dawn to

dusk, daily, he worked hard that made him a bit rude, and lonely. Even

his wife and children used to live in fear; as if love had dried in that

family.

The other farmer also worked, but always appeared free! Whenever asked

of any help, he was always ready to extend his hand of cooperation and

give his time. Same was the case when he was invited for merriment:

parties and ceremonies.

Now the wife of this farmer once asked: " O my dear husband, why is our

neighbor always so tense? He has enough money; why, indeed, we have

less! "

The farmer replied: " O my dear, I am happy with my 99, he is not! He is

trying to add one dollar to his 99. And the fact is that that one dollar

is elusive. The poor fellow does not accept this fact. "

Mr. Gate, the millionaire, has his 99, so also Mr. Smith, the clerk, Mr.

Jeeves, the butler, and Henry, the laborer, all have their 99. But

everyone is busy in trying to add that elusive dollar to their 99 to

make the round figure of 100.

But wait, one objection. George, the author; Theodore, the scientist, do

not bother whether they have one dollar or ninety nine.

Agreed. These fellows do not bother about 'cash'; but what about 'kind'!

They have 99 dollar worth of name and fame, intellect and knowledge. All

such fellows are busy in adding one dollar worth of elusive name and

fame; intellect and knowledge.

Namaste,

Dr. CSS, thanks a lot for this wonderful story. This really

pointed out the effect of greed on our life.
