The etymologists claim that these Sanscrit words are just another branch of the Indo-European family tree...and not the tree itself....which is perhaps true to some extent. We are actually searching for pre-Sanscritic roots, from which all these languages sprang forth. The only way to prove India's position [i believe], as birthplace of our Indo-Germanic languages, is to find the original MEANING of these common words, which have been lost in the mists of time. For instance, the word: " Mother " , a very important word in the Vedantist's vocabulary: Latin: MATER I believe this word originates from a combination of two Sanscrit words: mAha [great] tArA [star] and......Father Latin: PATER pAra [supreme] tArA [star] Just like the word 'Daughter', these common words have an original meaning which we have forgotten over the centuries. In other words, Sanscrit also does not remember the original meaning of these nouns, which date from timeless antiquity. om shanthi om +om ____ 123India - India's Premier Search Engine Get your Free Email Account at http://www.123india.com
