Guest guest
>I must politely disagree that " ...none but a Brahmin will be liberated... " >Swamiji was NOT a Brahmin. Do you believe that Swamiji was not liberated? I >am assuming that you are referring to the " priestly caste " Brahmin here. > >Sue I took the meaning to be the same as that found in the Dhammapada in which the question is asked; " Who is the true Bramana? " is answered many, many times: " He indeed is a Brahmana who fosters the Supreme Mind... " - Dhammapada v 152 Of course the Lord Buddha Himself was of the Kshastriya caste as was the Lord Mahavira. To me one of the most inspiring books I've encountered on the general subject was The God of Buddha by Jamshed Fozdar published in 1975 by the Asia Publishing House of New York City in which Fozdar compares line for line the teachings of Buddha with the Vedanta in the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and other scriptures... truly a must read... - Arthur Gregory lgregory
