Namaste,

I am currently reading the life history of Swami Bramhananda, who

is one of the main direct disciple of GURU Ramakrishna. I thought it will

be nice if i can share with you what i read. So I will be posting some of

the events in his life. The book i am reading is in my native language

(Tamil), so I am translating it on my own and posting it. So if anything

is misinterpreted or misquoted by me, please correct me.

--------

Swami Bramhananda was born in a village called sikra near calcutta on 21st

January 1863. His father's name is Anand Mohan Ghosh and his mother's name

was Kailash Kamini.

Kailash Kamini was a great devotee of Lord Krishna. So she named her son

as " Rakkal " which means one who looks after goats. (Rakkal was the name of

one of the boy who along with krishna in Brindavan looked after goats).

When Rakkal was five years old, his mother died.

Rakkal was very much interested in playing with other children. He

particularly liked building temples with clay. He would build an idol of

Lakshmi with clay and would pray her along with other children. He

observed all the rituals during the festivals with great concentration and

would become totally immersed in it. His thoughts would be about

Lokamatha, the mother of this universe.
