Guest guest
Rakkal's father was a good gardener. Hence Rakkal was interested in gardening. Rakkal was also interested in music. He and his friends would go to the nearby mango grove and sing devotional songs all day. At the age of twelve, Rakkal came to calcutta for higher studies. In the school he studied, there was a physical gym. Rakkal went to it and and took part with much interest. In this place, he met Naren (Swami Vivekananda) for the first time. Since both of them were of same age, very soon they became friends. At that time. the leader of Brahma Samaj, Keshav Chandra Sen, was very popular among the youth. His speeches were well received by the educated class of bengal. Brahma Samaj opposed idol worship, though the Hindu culture accepts it. Rakkal and Naren were influenced by Sen, and they joined Brahma Samaj. Rakkal spent more time now in prayer and meditation than in studies. He was always thinking about how to reach God. In later days, Bhagwan Ramakrishna told about Rakkal as " He is born with deep bhakti towards God. One who has done spiritual practices for years or even over many births only could have such spiritual feelings " ---- M.Magesh 876, 14th Cross, DSP group Indira Nagar II stage MIEL Bangalore 560 038 phone 5598615-2108 email : mmagesh ----
