Nikhilananda's English translation of the Bhagavad Gita. There does not seem to be an Indian edition and the US edition now costs $17.50, I think, which is prohibitive by my standards. But, then, the book is invaluable. Any donors? I suddenly feel a great love for all of you out there. Please keep up your good work. -------Guha <guha Vivekananda Centre <vivekananda 10 October 1999 15:08 Stumbling on ego The human mind is too tiny to apprehend the magnificent glory of the Lord or His plans. The main stumbling block is the ego. Self, for us, comes before everything else. We behave like the lowly labourer employed by an architect constructing a grand structure. Wielding his hammer, the labourer per chance hurts his finger and spews curses at the architect, his fate, his wife, children, the stone, the hammer, the country, etc. He does not realise that he was hurt simply because he was not paying attention to his work. This lack of attention again is a result of his tendencies over which he has not gained control. The Lord (the eternal architect), on the other hand, has to orchestrate the goings-on in the entire Universe, taking care to employ the `right person' for the right task and ensure that everything is in perfect order. We fail to recognise this perfect order only because of our coloured glasses, coloured by our selfish tendencies and utter ignorance.
