The best definition I have come across is Swami Vivekananda's:

" Religion is the manifestaion of the divinity already in man. " For

a more detailed discussion, please visit:

Integrity = (- Blank - ) = Religion = Duty = eg. Swami Sri. Vivekanand

= " where thyself going? " = what you are doing is right? = what is thy

duties? = Are you following thy religion the right way? = Integrity

The word 'integrity' is a Latin word; it comes from two roots - 'in' and

'tangere'. Tangere means pure, whole, uncorrupted, virgin. A man of

integrity is whole; not many - one. A man of integrity is pure, uncorupted

by the past, virgin. (who has performed his duty fully in the past, present

or in the future)

And out of that virginity arises the fragrance which we call religion.

Swamiji also said that the goal of religion should be to take us beyond the

NEED of religion. Think on that one. Why do you need religion? When

someone asks me " are you religious? " I tell them that it depends on their

definition of religion. To some religion is nothing more than attending

church on Sundays, dropping money in the collection plate, and going home and

living their lives the way they always have, and those folks consider

themselves religious. Religion comes from within. It is a way of life that

is lived each day. It is the realization that you ARE DIVINE and so is every

thing and everyone you see around you.
