Dhyanalingam The Sacred land of India has been witness to the lives of countless Siddhas, Seers, Sages and Enlightened beings. The Velliangiri mountains known as the Kailash of the south situated in Coimbatore district are very much a part of this glorious tradition. At the foothills of these mountains does grow ISHA YOGA CENTRE, Behind this is a great master and friend SADHGURU JAGGI VASUDEV. It has been decided to establish here a unique Dhyanalingam - thefirst of its kind in South India. Such a powerful creation is possible only by the Divine Grace of Sadhguru and the intense sadhana of meditators. The energies overflowing from people in a state of deep meditativeness are absorbed and stored by Dhyanalingam, hence its potential. The Lingam shape is chosen because scientifically this shape is a perennial store-house of energy, It does not ascribe to any sence of yogic science. particular religion but is the distilled essence of yogic science. Once fully consecrated, even if the physical structure is removed, the powerful vibrations around it will make even those unaware of meditation to experience a state of deep meditativeness. Basically Dhyanalingam is differentfrom other Lingams meant for pooja. The Atma Lingams created during the era of the Nayanmars were solely for the purpose of self- purification. As times passed by, they were reduced to Lingams used for pooja. Later, the effort by many enlightened beings to create Dhyanalingam did not bear fruit due to the absence of the right situation for the disciples to grow in meditation. Further, the scriptures expound that Dhyanalingam can happen only through a grihasta yogi whereas those who attempted it were not so. Intense process of Prana pradhishta has been going on for the past twoyears and is nearing completion. The whole structure is being consecrated in the enlarged form of Lingam and Avudaiyar. At the main entrance is a Sarvadharma Sthamba- As the energy of Dhyanalingam is universal in nature, a monolith 14 feet tall pillar with symbols of all religions-an appropriate universal welcome beyond religious divide. On top of the Sarvadharma sthamba is a blazing sun's face symbolising a newdawn. A doorway carved in stone With a lotus flower on the top symbolising the flowering of consciousness forms the entrance to the mandapam. The mandapam leads to a long open corridor flanked on otherside by the following: Pathanjali shrine: A three dimensional 11 feet tall deity of Pathanjali, the father of Yogic Sciences _ a combination of man and snake which is a symbolism for transcending all duality. Vanashreeshrine: A deity, is the sthree-sthana, the feminine counter for the powerful presence of the Lingam, represented in the form of a tree with a golden leaf. Adjacent to these are three large stone panels on each side of the corridor depicting the lives of southern Indian saints. Kannappa Nayanar: In his childlike emotion he offers his own eyes to Shiva. Akka Mahadevi - A moving scene of Akka in her love and dispassion shedding everything including her clothes as demanded by the king and moving into a sense of bodilessness. Poosalar:- A miraculous event where his inner temple found recognition. Meiporul Neyanar: - A heart rending event showing as to how a devotee of Shiva holds even a mere symbol of Shiva above his life. Sadhguru Parambramha - The Divine Guru bestows his grace upon a forlorn sadhaka - the birth of Isha. SadashivaBrahmendre - The bodiless yogi. At the end of the corridor is the entrance to a 14 feet long tunnel with a seven hooded monolith snake structure at its top symbolising seven dimensions of life reaching the peak followed by a unique large free spanning brick dome covering Dhyanalingam - 76 feet in diameter the first time that such a structure has been raised without concrete or steel. Dhyanalingam - Dhyanalingam is 13 feet 9 inches in height. It comprises of two parts, the Lingam and the Avudaiyar. Both Lingam and Avudaiyar are energised with qualities of Seven Chakras, hence Lingam has seven copper rings and Avudaiyar is in the form of a seven coiled snake. The Lingam is made up of higher density single granite stone and the Avudaiyar is also made up of granite whose density is 30% lesser than that of Lingam. Set amidst the lush landscapes and the towering mountains of Velliangiri, it will be a colossal entity of eternal vibration. Once fully consecrated the Lingam will radiate different qualities on different days Of the week by which one can derive various benefits, Monday: Earth being the Tatwa, it stirs the spiritual energies in the most fundamental way and helps beyond the limitations of one be food and sleep.
