Guest guest
Dear Dr. Shah, Just to clarify, I think you're speaking of a Satguru, not a Guru. A Guru can come in any form to guide the soul toward realization; A Guru need not even be embodied in a physical form. During this life I have had many teachers, even animals. Swami Vivekananda's words are like gold to me, and have helped beyond description on the path. Grace can come in any form, in any incarnation, or even in no incarnation at all. You have to take into account the soul's readiness as well. I don't think Sri Ramakrishna had an embodied Guru at all... his Guru was Mother Kali. Those who find a Satguru in any particular incarnation are blessed indeed, for such a relationship is rare and difficult to find. I think realization is possible but much slower without a Satguru for the " average " person. There are many traps in the world-forest, and without a Satguru for guidance it takes enormous dedication almost beyond imagination to cross the ocean of the world, but I think it can be done by a few, especially those who have mostly good karma and have been prepared in other past lifetimes. However, this is only an idea in this mind, no more or less correct than the idea that a Satguru is required. Yet the example of Sri Ramakrishna is beyond argument. I certainly don't want to argue the point beyond this. This is my view on the subject at this time, which may change depending on experience. I don't know why this topic keeps coming up on various lists. It is up to the individual to discover their path, and if realization comes, who can argue with it? [Madhava Replies:] Dear Tim: Just a note: Sri Ramakrishna ParamahaMsa in deed has a guru called " Totapuri " who has asked Ramakrishna paramahaMsa to look beyond the form of Mother Kali. We are discussing and not arguing. Do not feel that I do not learn from you and others who so sincerely and with efforts send their views on this list. dr c s shah ------------------- Tim Gerchmez wrote: .... ==================================== E-magazine on science and spirituality.
