The London interfaith had it's millennium festival last night.

Daksha Patel from the Vivekananda Centre was one of the main speakers. She

read out an article on 'Faith in the future'. She elaborated on the

opportunities and challenges that all faiths face in the future. If anyone

wants to see this article please email us.

At the meeting the following metaphor was offered to describe 'interfaith'

It seems to have touched the hearts of all present.

Metaphor used to describe 'Interfaith'

All scriptures have to resort to the use of metaphors. How else can we

describe the un-worldly in worldly terms? Bearing this in mind let us offer

a metaphor to describe 'Interfaith'.

Imagine all religions sitting around in a circle. Each religion striving to

reach the centre - which is their goal. Some call this goal, " God; some

call it truth; some call it enlightenment. " The more we move towards the

centre the more we get closer to each other. This cannot be avoided. The

affinity we feel for other religions is a sign of us moving closer to our

own Goal - it reflects on our own spiritual progress.
