Guest guest
In different saadhanaas according to time, Mahurat (blessed or good time) and place we have to face a specific direction such can be seen in the desciption of various saadhanaas. But wat good is there in facing a certain specific direction. the shaloka in Atharva Veda 3 | 27 | 1-4 says that in morning paryers and meditation we should face east and in evening we should face west. Devakarma should be done by facing east. RishiKarma should be done facing North and PitraKarma should be done facing south. Such has been described in Shaastraas. Facing east in morning prayers and meditation is prevalent because the sun rays then will fall staright on our front path of our body and because of this the Gyaana Tantu ( nerves and cells which realed to brain and knowledge) will gain energy and will become full of vitality. This leads to the development of divine and pious traits in one and the prayers and meditation done so will bear fruit. In study activities , self-study and in Rishi-karyaas it has been advised in shaastraas to face north. The reson behind this is that the Great Himalayaas which is the world of spirituality stands facing north direction. lake Mansarovar and the Kailaash Parvat of Lord Shiva also stands in north direction. This is th place which has been a great meditative place of great saints and Rishis. That's why it's beneficial to gain knowledge facing them. When no direction has been advised for some Mantraa Japaa then it's best to face north for then one gains the blessings of all the rishis in Himalayaas. PitraKarma is done facing south. It has been described in Vedaas that Pitra Loka exists in the upper part of Moon in the southern direction. That's why PitraKarma r done facing south. To sit in some other direction other than south will mean to show our back to them on their arrival which is a sign of disrespect. Similarly in evening we sit facing west for the sun rays will fall staright on our front body and we will get the same benefits as those obtained by facing east in morning prayers. If we do a reaserch then we can find that there is a reason behind every act of Saadhanaa. And when we don't know this reason we start thinking of that act as a long held belief.
