Guest guest
The millennium is obviously a huge event in the Christian calender, but what kind of significance does it have for Hindus? Naturally in the spirit of " vasudhaiva kutumbakam " it is important but are there possibly any other reasons from a Sanatanist point of view? Any general views/information would be very gratefully received! Jai Shree krishna Aarti

Guest guest
Vasudhaiva kutumbakam basically means that the world is one family. This joined with another famous saying - ekam sat vipraah bahudaa vadanti - truth is one, the wise express it in different ways - to me means that for Hindus, the Millennium is significant in terms of recognising its importance to Christians. Gandhiji was always inspired by reading Jesus' Sermont on the Mount', and of course Shree Ramakrishnan himself realised God through the right following of all faiths, including Christianity. > > Anurag Goel [sMTP:anurag] > Friday, December 10, 1999 6:39 AM > 'Ramakrishna ' > Re: [ramakrishna] Millennium Query > > Anurag Goel <anurag > > > How is it important in the spirit of Vasudev kutambakam ? > > On Thu, 9 Dec 1999, Aarti Sethia wrote: > > > Aarti Sethia <aarti.sethia > > > > The millennium is obviously a huge event in the Christian calender, but > what > > kind of significance does it have for Hindus? > > > > Naturally in the spirit of " vasudhaiva kutumbakam " it is important but > are > > there possibly any other reasons from a Sanatanist point of view? > > > > Any general views/information would be very gratefully received! > > > > Jai Shree krishna > > > > Aarti > > > > > Sri Ramakrishnaye Namah > Vivekananda Centre London > http://www.btinternet.com/~vivekananda/
