I just read an article which described an incident from Swami

Vivekananda's life. the article is in Hindi i am translating it in

English.

Vivekananda used to judge the truthness in the ideas with his thoughts...

and he was proud of it too...... beacuse he used to ask straight to any

Guru " Have u seen lord ? " and the persons either used to get shock on

hearing such a straight question or they were unable to stand in front of

his arguments.

And so once in distress Vivekananda left towards the hut of Swami

Devendra ( Grandfather of Ravindra ) , which was right in the center of

river. River was in full flow and storm but Vivekananda dived in to the

river and he sawm to the hut where devendra was meditating.

Swami Devendra opened his eyes and Vivekananda hurled the question towards

him - Is lord? Have you seen him? from the river itself.

All this confused Devedra and thought is this young man mad or wat ?

Couldn't he wait till morning for the river to calm down.

And by that time Vivekananda started returning back. Devendra tried to

call him " Hey stop! Atleast Come up then we will talk on this..... "

But Vivekananda said - " No! now talks can't take place because the

talks went away in this this confusion of one second and thinking....

because either lord is there or he is not there ? Wat's there to think

so much on it, why so much confusion...... " and he swam back.

------

If we have to think to answer, and it takes time then the person can be a

thinker , chintak, Daarshanik or philoshpher, but he can't be a GURU.

If the answer gets clarified before the question arises in the mind of

Disciple, then that person is a GURU none else. Later Vivekananda found

such a Guru in the form of Shri Ramkrishna Paramhansa.
