Short cut to God-knowledge!

This amusing story illustrates 'short cut' to God-knowledge.

A test was set for three graduates who had studied one of the three

subjects:-

Physics, Maths or Economics. They were taken to a church, given a barometer

and asked to work out the height of the steeple. The one who gave the most

accurate answer will be the winner.

After some time the Physics graduate returned with the answer. The steeple

was 154 feet tall. He had climbed up the steeple - dropped the barometer and

waited for it to crash at the bottom of the bell tower. He had timed the

fall and using his equations of physics had worked out the height of the

steeple.

The Maths student also returned and declared that the steeple was 157 feet

tall. He measured the horizontal distance of the steeple's shadow and using

the barometer as a vertical measuring rod plus the properties of equilateral

triangles -- had worked out the height of the steeple.

The economics student returned and declared that the steeple was 155ft 7

inches tall.

Asked how he had worked out this answer. He replied, " I was thoroughly

baffled and was wondering around the church grounds when I came across the

pastor who was sweeping the yard. I told him -- Look, if you tell me how

tall is this steeple, I will let you have this new barometer. "

: )

This story illustrates the idea of a short cut to God.

No doubt rationality is very useful in search of the divine but if we meet

someone who 'knows' then we are certain winners -- we get on the 'fast

track' to God.
