The Guru's Miracle

A Guru and his beloved disciple were sitting together. The disciple had

heard of other yogis showing miracles. He had the utmost reverence to his

Guru, and was sure that his Guru can also show such miracles. But, he had

never seen or even heard anyone say that his Guru showed any miracle. He

wanted to see his Guru show some miracle. They were alone. Using this

opportunity, the disciple asked the Guru to show a miracle. Knowing well

the purity and reverence of the disciple, the Guru opened his clenched

fist. Lo!! There was a big shining gold coin. The joy of the disciple knew

no bounds. He was so proud of his Guru. He took the coin in his hand and

rubbed it, weighed it and felt so happy. He exclaimed, " It is a REAL gold

coin. " The Guru calmly replied, " No, it is not real. It is an illusion. "

The disciple said, " No. I can feel it. I can weigh it. I can even bite it. "

He picked up a small stone on the other hand and said, " The coin is as

real as this stone. " The Guru said, " The stone is also not real. That is

also an illusion. " In a moment, the disciple's mind and body became still.

Breath stopped. There was a soft smile on his face. Both the stone and the

coin slipped off his hands. He was face to face with the Reality. He

realised that he was pure Being. He realised that everything else was an

illusion. After a few minutes, he slowly opened his eyes. Tears trickled

down his cheek. He slowly bowed down to the feet of his Guru.

The Guru had shown a miracle.
