Guest guest
I guess I have a question that was put to me by a new devotee of Sri Ramakrishna. The question was, " If Sri Ramakrishna was an AVATAR, how come he had to suffer from cancer near the end of his days? " That devotee is very sincere. She told me that Sri Ramakrishna recently appeared in her dream and blessed her. She is simply puzzled by the above occurrence in the earthly life of Sri Ramakrishna. I did answer her in my own way, but it seems that it didn't quite satisfy her curiosity. I would like to know how other participants on this board view that event. Guest guest
vinarie your friend is really a devoted one. It's so nice to know about such a great devotee and revered friend of yours. Let me share wat all i have thought and have come to know from here or there. One who is Paramhansa is beyond death. By death i mean the physical death. Such a person has a control over whole universe let alone death. They can give off their body whenever they want. But one more thing about such enlightened ones is that they live the most simple life just like an ordinary person. After gaining evrything they give up all as they have realized that the " self " is the most precious thing, self is what truth is, self is beyond all material wealth or powers. Such a person is called AVATAR. Such enlightened ones are beyond death. But they are on this beautiful earth for some particular work. As soon as the work is done they go away. As they have lived a simple life so their death too is very simple. But there death too is a part of their work. Even there death has a meaning. They don't take away things with them. They repay all here itself. When they wish to go away they make the things happen as they want and they go away or wait for the time to come so that things may happen as they desire. They know that a body is just like clothes. Just sometime back there was a posting on list that someone cursed Ramakrishna Paramhansa which became the cause of his death. Even that person didn't know why did he do that. Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa asked him " Why did u curse me ? " i refused water to you for your own good. He said i don't know why i did that. They are always here with us it's just that there body is not with us. But we need to protect them protect them with all we have, all we can. Only then they will be able to create few more Vivekanandas. On 11 Feb 2000 vinaire wrote: > vinaire > > I guess I have a question that was put to me by a new devotee of Sri Ramakrishna. Guest guest
I think Ramakrishna himself answered this question. All his devotees/disciples also pleaded to him to cure himself. What he said was : " In me is Ramakrishna the God and Ramakrishna the devotee/ Bhakta. Ramakrishna the God in me is not in any way affected by the miseries of this body and mind. It is pure Knowledge, Existence and Bliss. It is Ramakrishna the devotee/ Bhakta who has this disease and is the one who feels this pain. " We as ordinary ppl identify ourselves with this body , mind and intellect and give it a lot of importance. The wise dont. Guest guest
Namaste Thanks Kedareshwaran-ji for the quote. Just to add on. A Jeevanmukta like Ramakrishna who has realised his Self, is neither the body nor the mind. He is Satchitananda-rupa. An Avatar (incarnation) is someone who chooses to be born again on this earth just to save and uplift humanity due to his/her compassion for us. To those great Ones, the body is just an instrument to fulfil this purpose. The body being made of matter has to be destoyed in one way or the other. Like we all know, anything that 'comes' has to 'go'. This law applies to the body of Sri Ramakrishna too. Where is disease, or pain or pleasure for the One who has transcended them all. His body may be bound, but he is ever free........... Om Shanti Kathi Kedareshwaran Subramanian Ramakrishna 12/02/00 18:42 Re: [ramakrishna] Ramakrishna and Cancer " Kedareshwaran Subramanian " <ksubramanian I think Ramakrishna himself answered this question.
