Dear Arun,

I shall be happy to answer your question, but could you first let me know

what cloning means to you, and what is your interest in this question?

Hi

Is is it a necessary to first answer what cloning means to me and why I

need to know about it ?

Will this condition repeat in future when I will ask any other question ?

Hi Arun

Further to your question about 'Cloning'

No, there is no need to explain yourself further.

Cloning I suppose means producing identical twins (or triplets etc).

(This is my simplistic understanding). The only difference being that this

is done in an artificial manner.

The idea about clones is that they must have identical genes.

Just as with the identical twins.

So what does Hinduism say about Identical Twins?

Do they share the same 'inner mental qualities'?

I am sure many list members will have their views on this topic.

I am no expert in this field but let me present my thoughts on this.

Identical twins do exhibit certain similarities of inner character but there

is never a perfect fit - they are both different individuals.

They always seem to have slightly different inner traits.

Hinduism will say - two 'Jivatmas' (embodied souls -with individual mind

body complexes) with similar traits may be born as identical twins

(or be born as part of some cloning process).

Hence Hindu ethics may have no objection to the process of cloning.

They may say, " You are just assisting these 'similar' Jivatmas to take

birth.

Good for you! "
