Guest guest
" … but now it is possible to deliberately and consciously develop certain qualities in ourselves which can be then transferred to the next generation. " - dr c s shah The concept of evolution applies to the body only. This is similar to developing better and better designs for a particular application, such as, an aircraft, or a computer program. The concept of evolution cannot be applied to the development of spiritual qualities. According to Hinduism, the Atman is inherently all knowing, etc. If its spiritual qualities are not fully manifested, it is NOT because they are undeveloped, but because of the layers of ignorance covering it. Thus, I can envision progress in the direction of streamlining the process of meditation to make it more effective. But this won't be " evolution " in the sense of transmitting certain qualities to the next generation through genes. It seems more practical to me to envision such a transfer to succeeding generations through culture (education) rather than through genes.
