An

Appeal

In the birth place of Swami Brahmananda, the first

President of the Ramakrishna Mission, in Sikrakulingram in the district

of 24 Parganas in West Bengal there is a small Ramakrishna Mission

Ashrama. In the surrounding villages more than 90% of the population are

farmers, day laborers and most of them are tribal. Government established

few tuition free elementary schools in the villages. The poor parents

cannot even provide two meals a day for their children let alone to buy

books and other supplies for them. We, few ex-students of Ramakrishna

Mission Pathuriaghata - Narendrapur center in this country (USA) raised

a very meager fund to establish a Foundation named Brahmananda

Educational Foundation under the supervision of Ramakrishna Mission

Ashrama in Sikrakulingram. From the interest of that fund the mission

authority is buying books and other supplies for the poorest children.

We know that this kind of need is everywhere in the villages of West

Bengal in particular and in India in general. Just for the sake of

starting something somewhere no matter how minuscule it is and as Mother

Teresa used to say, " Find your own Calcutta to love " , we started such a

project. We believe that one day this minuscule project will turn into a

mammoth one with your help. Please help us to build it. A kind drop of

your tear in the ocean of such a vast need will go long way. Only ten

dollars can buy the supplies for each student for the whole year. Please

make your tax-deductible contribution by writing a check made out to

‘Ramakrishna Foundation' (this is in Los Angeles) and for book-keeping

and accounting for this project only send it to Pankaj Ghosh, 3404 Upshur

Street, Brentwood, MD 20722. We will send your check to Ramakrishna

Foundation after doing the book entry in our record. If your donation is

$250.00 or more, the Ramakrishna Foundation will send you a receipt

according to IRS regulation otherwise your canceled check is your

receipt. If you have any questions, please e-mail at unopank or

write to us.
