In spirituality one can have 'absolute' but 'absolute potential' : ) jay
Guest guest
The term 'absolute potential' is used for BRAHMAN in the sense that BRAHMAN is ZERO as a thing, but INFINITE in terms of its capability to create things. Here a THING is defined by its characteristics of matter, energy, space and time. Space is inherent to anything in this universe. Space is inherent even to thinking. The moment you consider something, you are considering simultaneously that you can perceive that consideration. Thus, you are also considering simultaneously that that consideration is separate from you. Now, what is space but the consideration of separateness! The basic characteristic of space is separateness. If space were not holding things apart the whole universe would collapse to a point. Vinaire P.S.: 'Vinaire' is simply an identity just like 'Jay' is. The identity characterizes the communication terminals we are using in this universe. We are present as Atman when we are creating our arguments (as an example). When we are not creating anything, we are simply reduced to Brahman. But we still keep a finger on our identity in this universe. That identity may function on its own under the automaticities installed in the mind. That is the ego. Now there are degrees of awareness to which Atman is differentiating itself from the ego (the automaticities). For example, a Jivatman is not making this differentiating at all, but a Parmatman is making a complete differentiation. This is just another way of looking at ATTACHMENT. The Goal of Vedanta has always been to bring about that awareness such that the Atman is differentiating itself completely from the instruments (mind and body) it is using in this universe as the means of communication. It may also be called " de-hypnotizing, " that is to wake the Atman up from a hypnotized condition. Ramakrishna , " Vivekananda Centre " <vivekananda@b...> wrote: > > > Vinaire > > > > P.S.
