Guest guest
Earlier posting from Tim <snip> (exploring what you are saying here, as this mind sees it)... not to either agree or disagree, but only exploring the statements made so far: >You have an Atman, I have another, each one of us has a separate >Atman <snip> Reply from jay==== Yes if you read it just as this line on its own - it does not seem to be in line with Advaita Vedanta. But if you read the whole of the message it comes out further as : - " Great discussions followed. Speculations were made, various shades of philosophic inquiry came into existence; and I shall try to place before you some of the conclusions that have been reached about this Atman. The different philosophies seem to agree that this Atman, whatever it be, has neither form nor shape, and that which has neither form nor shape must be omnipresent. " In the first line (I think) Swami Vivekananda was making distinction between Souls (Or Jivatmans). I think the introduction really refers to 'Jivatma' or soul (embodied Atman) As such we are all different as we have different mind/body complexes - but the essence of 'Jivatmana' -- Atman which is without the mind/body complex defies any such classification and to say one Atman or another Atman becomes meaningless. regards jay
