Guest guest
Dear Tim You posted:- Somebody said that for 35 years the words of Vivekananda and Ramakrishna have been helpful. I must ask that person, how many more years before you discover that within yourself which Vivekananda and Ramakrishna talk about? Could it be that the word has become more important than the content? From Jay> Yes I had said " Stories of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda have helped me now for over 35 years. And I am certain that they have helped me and countless millions overcome major limitations. " Advaita is a matter of first hand experience only. No spiritual teacher like Sri Ramakrishna or Swami Vivekananda have said that their words are more important than that ultimate realisation. As long as that experience is missing we have to rely on personalities like Sri Ramakrishna to make spiritual progress. Else we are left with nothing more than an empty tin can called 'Advaita'. Worthless without the experience! I have come across many who talk Advaita but none established in Advaita. I prefer to take sides with a humble 'Dvaita' then with an inexperienced 'Advaitin'. We forget - as long as we operate with the mind-body complex we are slaves to the relative world - the finite world. Our talk of absolute and 'advaita' is just that - 'talk'. In order to make real progress towards this 'Advaita' we need to use tools which are relative (like us). All personalities like Vivekananda are the tools that open up the doorway to 'Advaita'. They have never claimed to be anything more. regards jay
