Guest guest
Jay these days here in bangalore " World Festival on Sacred Music " is going on. And there is lot of fun coming through. Today some of the songs did contain words like " uniting with infinite " . I was bit surprised. I guess other religions too do have the teachings on Advaita. Guest guest
Dear Jay: I have been till now only a witness to this list and would like to disclose myself and suggest a few names regarding "Christian Advaitin": in the field of Poetry, William Wordsworth and Walt Whitman; in the religious field, you perhaps have heard of them, two benedictine monks who went to India to follow Sannyasa vows: Father Le Saux, later Swami Abhishiktananda and Father Bede Griffiths. They tried to harmonize Christian and Vedantic thought, and founded the Shantivanam Ashram. Another name is from a brazilian philosopher, Prof. Huberto Rohden, who lived in USA at the time of Prof. Albert Einstein, with whom could also discuss Oriental philosophy. Prof. Rohden has been a member of the well known "Self-realization Fellowship" and wrote many books explaining Christian tradition through Advaita Vedanta. I must say that I appreciate very much this list and also your comments and noticed that you Jay have being helped for many years through their Teachings. Of course, this is not only "this much". Permit me to offer you a little Poem that was written to my Teacher some months back. He lives in Argentina, in charge of Ramakrishna Monastery there, and goes like this: In Silence... "In Silence you are teaching me so many things: in silence I am learning so many things from you: Silence is gathering thoughts from your mind and whispering the words to me. Silent remains the Teacher and in silence is kept the disciple. Quietness... In silence, Love radiates oneness, and in silence...Oneness is the source of all!" This is all for now. Best regards from Brazil, Templar. Vivekananda Centre wrote: I have a very good friend who is doing research on 'Advaita' teachings. He asked me to get him names of recent personalities within the Hindu tradition as well as any possible Christian Mystics who lived 'Advaita'. I have prepared these names from the Hindu tradition: Vivekananda / Ramana / Ramatirtha / Ashokananada. Can the list suggest other names from the Hindu tradition? Even more important - can the list suggest names from the Christian tradition? regards jay ------ Get paid for the stuff you know! Get answers for the stuff you don’t.
