Dear Kedar I will attempt to answer these questions about space/time. In classical Physics it was taken for granted that the 'stage on which' the world-play takes place is defined in terms of two independent entities called space and time. This world-stage (space and time) is said to be filled with 'matter' that operate under specific laws like the laws of gravitation and electromagnetism. Physicists did not give further details or give any further explanation regarding what is space or time. They said this are 'a priory' ideas which have to be taken for granted. We hear of such definitions as ' if you ask me what is Time then I do not know but if you don't ask me - then I know'. Behind all such statements was the idea that you cannot explain Space and Time in terms of anything else and that they existed independent of each other. With Modern Physics comes a new idea Space and Time cannot exist independently They have merged into one entity called space/time This is essential (there is no way round it) Unless we do this we cannot explain 'Property of Light'. What space/time is still a serious unknown. We all seem to know what they are but cannot explain them. The only progress we have made with modern Physics is to link them. regards jay
