Chapter 3, Verse 7:

Swami Chetanananda

Know it for certain that the sense organs and the sense objects are like

clouds in the sky. Realize the Shining One as neither bound nor free.

I am Existence-Knowledge-Bliss and boundless as space.

Note: Like clouds in the sky - Krishna said in the Gita: " Feelings of

heat and cold, pleasure and pain, are caused by the contacts of the

senses with their objects. They come and go, never lasting long. Endure

them. " (2.14) And again: " For the enjoyments that arise from contact

with objects are only sources of pain. They have a beginning and an

end, and the wise find no delight in them. " (5.22)

Swami Ashokananda

Know all instrumentsof perception to be like ethereal space. Know all

objects of perception to be like etherial space. Know this pure One as

neither bound nor free. I am the nectar of Knowledge, homogeneous

Existence, like the sky.

Note: Like, etc. - The instruments of perceptin-senses, mind, etc.-are

not what they seem to us in ignorance. They also are formless

Consciousness Itself.
