Guest guest
The monsoon prevails mainly in the Indian Ocean. It blows from the southwest, generally from June to October, and from the opposite direction, the northeast, from October to April. The southwest, or summer, monsoon is usually accompanied by heavy rain in areas of India and the East Indies, constituting the dominant climate event of the area. The appearance of this wind pattern over geological time has been linked, through sedimentary evidence, to the uplift of the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau El Nino in Pacific, ice and snow on Alps and climate over Andes in Latin America! The scorching summer heat, temperature touching 48 degree Celsius (= 118 degree F.) in some parts of India, leaves the human life miserable and deaths are also common due to heat stroke. the only hope lies in setting of favorable Monsoon that would drench the scalded souls with pure heavenly waters. And the prayers are heard every year, year after years. The torrential rains hit the southern tip of India Kerala in first week of June followed by its upward welcome journey all over the land. The children dance naked full with coolness of rain waters, the farmers overjoyed prepare for tilling the Mother Earth that would yield tons of grains for the famished human bodies. The loving and romantics listen to the sweet melody of a Koel informing the mate about the cooler times ahead and to stay together. The separated souls, separated due to work compulsions, poverty, and the need to earn living send messages via 'cloud messenger' to their far off beloved to welcome the rains as the love showers. The disease also spreads. Water borne typhoid, jaundice, dysentery, and cholera all attack the poor with vengeance. The hospitals overflow with cries of despair. And God almighty cures them many times, but occasionally takes its fee also by way of death here and morbidity there. Poverty of subcontinent is exposed in the ensuing winds and storms. The leaking roofs wet the only covering many families have. The body tries to cover itself under the over-streched and hence torn outfits. dr c s shah -- =================================== E-zine on science and spirituality.
