The domain of science has primarily been the non-living things (matter, energy, space, and time). Life has not been the domain of science. The moment science starts to address life, the number of variables become so astronomical, that a new approach for investigation is warranted. How must science address an astronomical number of different variables? Statistics is not the answer because that subject measures the reactions of a mechanical system only. It cannot measure the life and the creativity that is the primary characteristic of life. Therefore, the application of Science to the subject of Life must focus on reducing the number of independent variables. The approach must be toward finding the common denominator that applies to all life. What is that common denominator? When we realizethrough self-experience, or through the experiences of others, thatmoney and fame, intellectual and other privileges are inadequate to freeus from the suffering and tragedies of life a definite ray of hopeshines through the lives of these disciples for us to find the way.The concept of God is related with our own higher consciousness. It isthe reality about our true nature that is all Bliss and Divine. Becauseof our ignorance we associate ourselves and stay focussed on body andmatter only. Living God centered life means realizing and manifestingour true nature. Better than getting entangled in 'lust and gold', adifferent life of higher quality and values is within our reach. This ispossible by combination of many factors, like influence of tradition,study of scriptures, and, most importantly, devotion, faith, surrender,and association with a holy person - a saint, a sage, or a Man of God.We see this in the lives of the devotees of Sri Ramakrishna.
