This dilema exists in everbody who is in sansar(family life). There is no formula or equation guiding spirituallity . Sri ramakrisha tells what ever you ask with true love mother will give it. I feel asking is your right and giving is his duty. There is nothing wrong in asking him something materalistic, because you know he is your father & mother, As a kid whom else shall we ask. But a human being instead of getting your self entraped in maya of worldly life, Its always better to ask for place in his lotus feet. Guest guest
jaguarxox [jaguarxox] " ----- My question is: When does longing for God bring realization or disturb our minds? --- " Before we seek we should know what realization is. Scriptures very well explained what it seems to be a realized one... By the way, longing for God does not bring realization, but it will make that God personify in front of you and talk to you... You shall get what you seek... God realisation (bhakti marga), self realization (mukti marga) :-) " ---- When should we surrender to God's will without pressing our demands? ---- " Yesterday... Okay, if you missed yesterday then be it rightnow! Immediately, with out wasting a second. And there is this point that I would like to mention. Know what your demands are, if they are right then please know that they are arising because of God's will (ref: Bhagawad Gita - dharamaaviruddhO bhootEshu kAmOsmi bharatarshabha - know that I am the desire, which is uncontrary to dharma, in all beings.) There is no question of demand when you surrender. Yours, Madhava

The only one that loves truly is Lord/Guru. Its then that we realise what Lord/Guru is and its then that a longing for God/Guru gets expressed. When we aware of the importance and reality of God/Guru. Its then that a longing will happen by itself. Why do i need a God/Guru ? Answer to this will turn in to longing. > When should we surrender to God's will without pressing our demands? > When one realises that things are beyond ones control and that one is only playing a certain role. When one understands the BIG PICTURE its then that surrender occurs. Surrendering helps in observing the things from a distance and one becomes a observer and doer simulataneously. Guest guest
I would say that it would come when you stop trying to figure it out, and are totally wlling to face whatever comes. - jaguarxox Ramakrishna Tuesday, July 11, 2000 8:26 PM [ramakrishna] Surrender vs. Longing For God Sri Ramakrishna said:"Pray to the Divine Mother with a longing heart. She is by no means a godmother. She is your own mother. With a yearning heart persist in your demands on Her.The child holds to the skirt of its mother and begs a penny of her to buy a kite. Perhaps the mother is gossiping with her friends. At first she refuses to give a penny and says to the child: 'No, you can't have it. Your daddy has asked me not to give you money. When he comes home I'll ask him about it. You will get into trouble if you play with a kite now.' The child begins to cry and will not let up his demand. Then the mother says to her friends: 'Excuse me a moment. Let me pacify this child.' Immediately she unlocks the cash-box with a click and throws the child a penny. You too must force your demand on the Divine Mother. She will come to you without fail."My question is: When does longing for God bring realization or disturb our minds? When should we surrender to God's will without pressing our demands?
