Interesting Observations about Hinduism examinations and

some information about future classes.

Out of 133 candidates 33 obtained A* and further 24 got A

I have had a chance to analyse the results of the GCSE examinations.

(1) Girls beat the boys by 2 to 1 for top grades.

(2) The very young high achievers are:

(a) Nirusha Gengatharan A * at the age of 12

(b) Vishal Kohli A * age 12

© Ahimsa Thirunavukarasu age 10

(two more marks and she would have got into A* )

(3) The highest marks:

Scored was 95pct by Madhoo Sudan.

This will be a difficult result to beat in the coming years.

(4) The most dedicated family:

The Puri family

3 out of 4 of them got A* and one got A

(One with A grade will be severely dealt with by

the rest of the family : )

(5) The most amusing participant:

One mother came to drop her children and we persuaded her

to sit for the examination - she sat for it and obtained an A*

( she has turned into a teacher for the next year's classes!!)

(6) The sad participant:

One little fellow suddenly lost his nerve and ran out of the

exam room crying and telling the examiner

" My sisters are forcing me and making me sit for the exams!! "

(7) The most helpful groups:-

The Tamil association and the Swaminarayan (SKLPC) groups

have been the most supportive bodies. They Both keep

repeating 'What more can we do for you'? - And they mean it.....

(8) One peculiar experience:

The university approached me saying one candidate

seems to have cheated. His answer paper had two

completely distinct types of handwriting. They were very

suspicious. I was very worried - I called the guy over and

he came with his notes written in two different handwriting

styles... : )

I have told him take care in all future examinations

- else the university is going to get all worked up!!

(9) The most dedicated candidate:

We have one gentleman who is 72 in the Southall class.

Everytime I entered the class, he would stand up to do pranam.

I am much younger than him so I found this a little embarrassing,

But on further thought I realise - he is really bowing down to what

I stand for 'spirituality'!

He obtained an A * grade but I have to add

" May God bless him with the real knowledge of 'Hinduism'

(10) This year the Birmingham and Leicester classes were run by the

previous students who have been teaching the classes very well.

Next year Luton, Southall, Preston Manor, and Stanburn School

classes will be run by the adults/students from this year's classes.

I will continue to supervise and will continue to start new classes.

(11) A/S level classes are very relevant as the University requirements

from this year needs good passes in 4 or 5 A/S levels in diverse

subjects. Hinduism would be just right for many candidates. I am

getting busy with research into Science & Spirituality themes so

I may only run these A/S level classes for a limited period.

Strongly advise you all to take advantage of the class being set

up this year.

(12) I am going to give a series of four talks to University Students:

I would like you all to attend as what I will offer will give you

a deeper understanding of what you have learnt so far.

The talks are on Tuesday evenings 10, 17, 24 and 31st October

at Sir Fleming Building Imperial College Road Imperial College

Kensington London SW7 (5.45pm to 7.30pm).

(13) Issuing certificates (they arrive in November)

I am hoping to arrange a get-together of all our students

of Hinduism in November. We will invite the heads of University

and Government Religious Education bodies. For further information

Message to all candidates:

It has been a pleasure dealing with such a dedicated

and sincere group. Keep in touch and let me know how

you progress in life (you can join one of our mailing lists

and will be kept informed of all going ons.)
