Song of the Ever free

Avadhuta Gita

Chapter 7 Verse 4

In this state of realization, how can the Avadhuta

consider whether he has a body or not,

or whether he has attachment or not?

He himself is the immaculate, immovable, innate Reality

-infinite as space.

Commentary:

Attempt is made to describe the condition of the Self realized.

Use of words like immaculate, immovable, innate Reality

are used..... example of infinite space is used....

All such allusions are severely limited --

they can only point - but even that cannot be right.......

These allusions point?? - point where???

Many pundits operate with a vast array of such words

and think they have grasped 'Advaita'.

Advaita (thankfully) is not a by-product of

such intellectual gymnastics : )

Re: Avadhuta Gita

Dear Jay,

I don't know if it's appropriate to repeat something that was printed in

a NewsLetter, edited by some one else, but it appealed to me, so let you

use your judgement on whether or not to use it. It's a small quote of a

quote of Pravrajika Vivekaprana (New Delhi, India) which appeared in the

Sri Sarada Society Notes (Newsletter), Winter 2000, and offered by

Caroline Giorgi. It was from a talk given in La Paloma, Uruguay, in

September 2000:

" ... It is a very strange state of human existence that we do not like

to pass through life as if on a journey. It is as if we want to get hold

of... things that mark the distance on a highway -- catch hold of them

and just remain there; not realizing that we are on ajourney, not seeing

the movement of our own mind that does not stop, cannot stop -- and

instead of slowing with the movement, somehow we have the mental

capacity to feel ourselves to be bound. "

Yours, Edith
